About Us

Wild, Wacky, Wonderful: That’s Us!

The Wild Wacky Wonderful Women of the World (W5) isn’t your average women’s group. We’re bold, we’re unapologetically fun, and we’re here to change the world one laugh (and a whole lot of brunches) at a time! Since 2003, this sisterhood has brought together unstoppable women ready to support each other and take on anything life throws our way. No Rules, No Dues & No Men!

How It All Started

Picture this: It’s 2003, and our fearless leader Deborah Harrell Meehan is saying goodbye to her career of almost 30 years. She could’ve stayed, but she had bigger plans—more brunch, more laughter, more freedom. She wasn’t about to let go of the amazing women she’d shared her journey with, so she did what any fabulous leader would do: She threw a party. And then another. And another.

Before long, we had a whole calendar filled with brunches, dinners, and adventures—all in the name of staying connected and supporting each other. The spark for the Wild Wacky Wonderful Women of the World came from an unexpected source: a pillow! Deborah spotted the words "Here Lives a Wild, Wacky, Wonderful Woman" on a pillow inspired by artist Suzy Toronto, whose empowering art and playful designs celebrate strong, fabulous women. From that simple yet powerful message, Deborah turned those words into a thriving sisterhood.

Our Spirit (1).png

The Wild Wacky Wonderful Women of the World (W5) is all about connection, laughter, and shared experiences. We’re a sisterhood where every gathering feels like a celebration, whether it’s brunch with friends or one of our unforgettable special events.

Our spirit is rooted in positivity and genuine friendships. This is a space where women come to be themselves, share their stories, and create lasting memories. It’s not just about attending events; it’s about finding your tribe, growing together, and embracing all the wild, wacky, and wonderful moments that life has to offer.

W5 isn’t just about fabulous times; we’re about making a fabulous impact. Here’s a taste of our wacky contributions to our community:

  • Bachelor Bid for Charity – Benefiting the Women’s Center of Wake County and raising tens of thousands of dollars for important causes (and a few laughs).

  • Bridesmaids Bowling – Because rolling strikes can help the SPCA!

  • Adopt-A-Highway – Keeping our streets clean, because wild women care about the world around them.

  • Holiday Parties & More – From the USO to Pharaoh’s Daughter, we’re here for it all. Big causes, big hearts, big laughs.

"I’ve been a Wacky member since 2010, and have found it an invaluable resource. Thanks to a Wacky referral from the Google group I found my apartment, and I have requested and received numerous referrals for myself and my clients over the years. From therapists to contractors, Wackies know people! Deb is our shining star, always bringing bubbly energy and light as she leads the group in making the world a better place. From kayaking to adopt-a-highway clean-ups to helping with fundraisers, making connections with Wacky women has been a delight!"
